Specifications include, but are not limited to: During severe weather and emergency snow operations, it may become necessary to use additional equipment to clear the roads of ice and snow or respond to inclement weather. Therefore, VDOT is requesting bids for equipment to be available for use when conditions dictate a higher level of response (Augmented Snow Operations). The Contractor shall provide equipment with experienced operators, labor, supervision, fuel, transportation (mobilization), tools, materials, supplies, and incidentals as necessary for performing safe and efficient augmented snow operations. All work performed under this contract shall be under the direction of the Contract Administrator or designee. The work will consist of, but not be limited to, snow and ice removal from VDOT maintained Interstate roadways (or Primary and Secondary routes), including all paved crossovers, entrance and exit ramps, and as directed by the Contract Administrator or designee; Towing Services; and Wellness Checks to assist VDOT with removing stranded motorists from the travel lanes. Augmented services included in this contract will be required on an on-call as needed basis, 24 hours a day, from the award of contract through April 30th. Payment for services will be at an Operational Rate.
