SCOPE OF WORK Audiology services are designed to help students with hearing difficulties access education effectively. Audiological services shall be provided by licensed audiologists who work within schools or partner with school districts. Their role involves identifying, managing, and addressing hearing issues that impact a child's ability to learn and participate in classroom activities. Key Components of School-Based Audiology Services: 1. Hearing Screenings and Assessments: o Regular hearing screenings to identify students with hearing loss. o Comprehensive audiological evaluations to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment. 2. Management of Hearing Devices: o Fitting and maintenance of hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM/OM systems. o Troubleshooting equipment issues to ensure students have access to auditory input. 3. Collaboration with Educators and Families: o Providing training for teachers and staff on using assistive listening devices. o Consulting with educators to modify teaching strategies and classroomenvironments. o Educating families about their child's hearing needs and available resources. 4. Environmental Modifications: o Recommending classroom changes to reduce noise and improve acoustics. o Ensuring students with hearing loss have optimal seating arrangements. 5. Early Intervention and Prevention: o Identifying hearing issues early to prevent delays in language, speech, and social development. o Promoting awareness about noise-induced hearing loss and prevention strategies. An audiological vendor who can provide a one-stop service to include need, fitting, equipment and training is preferred.
