Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Galax is seeking sealed bids from a qualified contractor to repair, resurface, and extend an existing basketball court to create four pickleball courts in addition to constructing an outdoor basketball court at Felts Park at 601 S Main St. Galax, VA 24333. Please review the Scope of Work section for details. The City of Galax reserves the right to waive irregularities and to reject any and all bids. The City has selected to procure this project using competitive sealed bidding in conformity with § 2.2-4302.1 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. For purposes of this solicitation, the terms “Proposal,” “RFP” and like terms shall be interpreted in harmony with the selected procurement method. The City of Galax reserves the right to alter the Scope of Work for this project as deemed in the best interest of the City. • The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, supervision, equipment, and necessary permits and licenses to perform/complete work described herein. • Grading of site, gravel, and install 2-inches of asphalt to resurface and level existing court and 3- inches of asphalt for the extension. • Maximum aggregate size of 3/8-inch. • Asphalt shall have 1-inch slope • Service variance shall be less than 1/8-inch over 10-foot. • Pickleball court size shall be 140ft in length and 70ft in width to accommodate four courts and shall include 12ft between each court. The pickleball courts will be constructed using the existing basketball court that is currently an 82ft long and 70ft wide asphalt pad. • The Contractor shall grade, gravel, and asphalt surface to create a full size, outdoor basketball court measuring 70ft in length and 60ft in width. • Work to begin on August 19th and be completed by September 27th. The bidder shall indicate any conflict with this timeline in their bid submission.
