Smyth County School Board is requesting proposals from licensed certified public accountant firms to audit fourteen (14) school’s activity accounts and the option of auditing one (1) food service account for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, with the option of auditing the activity accounts and food services account for the subsequent two (2) years. These audits are to be performed in accordance with the following provisions of this request for proposal: 1) Audits will be conducted for the activity accounts of fourteen (14) schools and the option of one (1) food service account. 2) Audits of the school general accounts shall be conducted in accordance with the Virginia Department of Education Regulations for Audits of School Records and in accordance with generally accepted auditing principals as prescribed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for fund accounting. 3) Financial statements and audit reports will be prepared for each school. 4) Two (2) bound copies of the financial statements and audit reports will be presented to the Smyth County School Board by October 31, 2025. 5) Prepare and submit a management report on the internal controls and, if necessary, provide recommendations to strengthen controls. 6) Provide unlimited consultation during the year.
