For the 305 DMC-3000 G3 digital alarming dosimeters, the Hazardous Materials Branch of the Virginia Department of Emergency Management intends to maintain compatibility with the more than 600 such devices already in its inventory. The branch requires the following salient features (specifications) to be compatible with the equipment for DMC-3000: 1. The device must operate on a single AAA 1.5-volt alkaline cell for no less than 2,500 hours of continuous operation, assuming alarm activation for no more than 0.2% of the time. 2. The exterior must be constructed of high-impact polycarbonate acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic for durability, chemical resistance, and a non-porous surface finish. 3. The device, as offered and for reliability, must be certified waterproof (IP67) to one meter for up to one hour and resistant to shock, vibration, and drops up to 1.5 meters on concrete.
