A. Scope of work includes, but is not limited to, cleaning, repair, and recoating of all existing exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS). Repairs are to be executed to all distressed, stained, discolored, damaged and/or indented existing exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS). B. All existing exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS) is to be cleaned and recoated. Distressed areas as defined above are to be repaired and recoated. All existing sealants located in, on and at perimeter of EIFS and EIFS openings are to be removed and replaced. EIFS locations requiring repairs. Locations requiring repair include but are not limited to any and all locations, surface and/or edge damage, and erosion. C. Repair nonstructural EIFS base coat and finish. (Note: the combination of EIFS base coat, reinforcing mesh and finish may be referred to as “EIFS lamina” and, for purposes of this specification, treated as a single construction element.) D. Repair waterproofing deficiencies at EIFS terminations. E. Resurface wall to provide uniform appearance in accordance with specified requirements. F. The work included in this specification section is Alternate No. 2. G. All existing EIFS surfaces are to be prepped, cleaned and recoated as specified including but not limited to existing entry columns, entry canopy high arching ceilings and soffit areas. The only existing EIFS surfaces to not be recoated are as follows: existing decorative painted areas, typically above each school’s main entry doors, are to be taped off and protected during prep, cleaning and recoating activities on the adjacent EIFS surfaces so as to maintain existing painted graphics in the existing, undamaged condition. Existing surface mounted lettering is to be removed, cleaned and reinstalled to accommodate prep, cleaning and recoating of existing EIFS surface behind letters.
