Norfolk Public Schools is seeking a comprehensive Kâ12 English Language Development (ELD) and Newcomer Program. This will follow the guidelines of our textbook adoption process. These resources will support multilingual learners (MLs) at varying English proficiency levels, including students new to the United States and those with limited or interrupted formal education (SLIFE). Additionally, the program should include strong professional development and a parental involvement component. A direct correlation to the WIDA English Language Development (2020) Standards and Framework and provide integrated support for listening, speaking, reading, and writing for all English proficiency levels. Purchase of all instructional resources shall be dependent on the availability of funding. Norfolk Public Schools reserves the right to purchase at a later date or implement the adoption in stages. The School Board seeks a comprehensive English Language Development (ELD) Program for K â 12 Schools to include Elementary ELD (K-5), Middle School ELD (6-8), and High School ELD (9-12).
