The mission of Vermont’s Immunization Program is to prevent and control vaccinepreventable diseases in Vermont by increasing immunization rates among children, adolescents and adults. Vermont is a universal vaccine purchasing state. The program aims to increase vaccination coverage rates among Vermonters by reducing barriers to vaccination. All vaccines recommended by CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) are provided to healthcare providers at no cost for people birth64 years of age. Eliminating cost as a barrier to immunization helps to ensure that all children and adults are vaccinated according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended childhood, adolescent and adult immunization schedules. Vaccines are the best way to prevent serious illness and death from many infectious diseases and they also protect communities by reducing the spread of illness.
