Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1)Stowe Quadrangle Mapping: The study area, located in Lamoille County, Vermont, is ~ 50 square miles (Figure 1). The goal is to produce a surficial geologic map, a cross-section, and groundwater resources maps at a scale of 1: 24,000. Map will be edge matched to the adjacent Bolton Mountain quadrangle. All maps will be produced in GIS and exported as pdfs. Files will be delivered as shapefiles using the database format of the State of Vermont. Examples of the GIS database may be viewed on-line at: http://geodata.vermont.gov/#data . Groundwater resource maps and shapefiles will include depth to bedrock, water well location map, hydrogeologic unit codes for well materials, infiltration potential to underlying materials, generalized groundwater flow lines and any recommendations for future public water supplies. 2)Standardize surficial map units and descriptions: Collaborate with the Geological Survey to implement use of standardized map units and descriptions for surficial mapping in order to compile the Montpelier one-degree sheet. Edge-match the Stowe quadrangle to the Bolton Mountain quadrangle and integrate previous mapping by Springston in the southern portion of the Stowe quadrangle. Limited field time is anticipated.
