The bidder will provide to the State recovery writing workshops which are a series of writing workshops focused on stories of addiction and recovery. The bidder will have participants write about their personal stories of struggle, perseverance, moments of doubt and inspiration and the slow but steady work of renewal and healing from addiction. The bidder will include creative writing, poetry, non-fiction, and some humor in each workshop. The bidder will produce and teach eight workshops during each calendar year within the contract term. The bidder will include guest appearances by published writers in each workshop. The bidder will run the workshops for (10) ten weeks and bidder will hold the workshops at the following sites: • Burlington Recovery Center • St. Johnsbury Recovery Center • Barre Recovery Center • White River Junction Recovery Center • Newport Recovery Center • Springfield Correctional Facility • Newport Correctional Facility • Northwest State Correctional Facility • Marble Valley Correctional Facility • Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility • Northeast Correctional Complex Outcome: The bidder will collect the best writing from each years sessions and produce a book of writing from the recovery writing workshops. The bidder will distribute the book to treatment, out-patient, and recovery centers across Vermont to be used as a tool for education and discussion around the issues of addiction and recovery. The bidder will create and maintain a website for the project to provide updates and share recovery writings.
