The Northeastern Vermont Development Association (NVDA) is requesting proposals for production of a Feasibility Study to identify alternatives, issues and costs and provide recommendations related to construction of a multi-use path to connect the existing Newport Bike Path, owned by the City of Newport with the Beebe Spur Rail Trail Owned by the State of VT. A network of off-road trails already exists and includes beyond the already mentioned facilities the former Scott Bluff Farm Trails and a path owned by the Pomerleau family behind the Vista Shopping Center. The feasibility study will also assess, identify, and prioritize locations for new and upgraded connections, amenities and enhancements to these facilities that will provide for the user a seamless experience. The study will look at opportunities for trailhead parking, trail crossing safety improvements, connections to businesses and other facilities/amenities. The owner of the project is the City of Newport, and the Town of Derby and the sole authority for the Consultant during the project rests with the Northeastern Vermont Development Association (NVDA).
