Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Town of Barnard is replacing an existing undersized and poorly aligned 48” x 40ft steel culvert on Lime Pond Road over Broad Brook with an 8ft x 10ft concrete box including retention sills and flared wing walls as recommended by a recent hydraulic study. The replacement of this culvert with a larger structure will increase the hydraulic capacity and not pinch the Broad Brook. The inclusion of concrete flared wing walls will stabilize the bank and roadway and reduce road sediment erosion at both the inlet and outlet into Broad Brook. In addition, by readjusting the alignment of the new structure to be more complementary to the existing stream path, this will reduce the streams need to make a sharp turn into the structure inlet.
