The Town of Fairlee has been awarded funding and entered into an agreement with the Agency of Commerce and Community Development’s Downtown Transportation Fund to develop a project to construct 750ft of sidewalk and ADA improvements along US Route 5 (Main Street) including the installation of a set of solar Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons at the School Street crosswalk. The project will increase safe access for pedestrians in the Fairlee Village Center as it connects the Railroad, Park and Ride, seasonal flea market, Fairlee Town Common, Fairlee Town Hall, Post Office, Fairlee Elementary School and the Town Library as well as several businesses. Accordingly, all aspects of project development, from developing a purpose and need statement to constructing the project, must conform to federal and state regulations. The anticipated construction schedule is for 2026.
