As described in the MERP Level II Energy Assessment Report for the Bradford Academy, several improvements have been identified for the building’s enclosure to improve efficiency and reduce energy usage. Insulate Sloped Ceiling of Original Building The sloped ceilings in the 3rd floor of the existing building have very little or no insulation. The floor area of this 3rd floor space is approximately 4,000 square feet. The existing sloped ceiling finish is a mixture of wood slats, and drywall over wooden slats. The intent of this project is to increase the R-value of this ceiling assembly and ultimately improve the energy efficiency of the building. 1. Materials a. Cellulose Insulation: Blown-In i. Shall have a minimum R-value of 3.7 at 1 inch thickness when tested in accordance with ASTM C518. ii. Basis of design material is Igloo; Cellulose. Equal substitutions will be considered.
