The Town of Essex, Vermont is requesting proposals from qualified firms of certified public accountants to audit its financial statements for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2025, 2026 and 2027, with the possibility of the Town extending services to audits for fiscal years 2028 and 2029. The audit shall be performed in accordance with U.S. generally accepted auditing standards (GAAP), standards set forth for financial audits in the Government Auditing Standards, applicable Vermont State and Federal statutes and financial accounting standards as they apply to business-type activities and enterprise funds. The financial audit opinion will cover the financial statements for the governmental activities, the business-type activities which include the Water & Sewer and Recreation Programs funds, a Cemetery Fund, and the aggregate remaining fund information, which collectively constitutes the Town’s basic financial statements.
