The purpose of this specification is to describe a system that will fulfill the following functions: -Make salt brine in 5000 gallon batches by mixing water with granular sodium chloride. -Automatically recirculate the brine solution until it reaches a predetermined strength in the storage vessel (approx. 23%). -By means of a solution analyzer, shut off the recirculation system when the brine reaches 23.5% strength. -Transfer the brine to a 5000 gallon storage tanks. -Load maintenance trucks with the brine solution stored in the tank. -Off load anti-Icing and pre-wetting trucks back to the storage tank -Recirculate brine in storage tanks. -Be designed to allow settlement of non suspended, undisolved particles contained in the rock salt before transferring the brine solution to the storage tank. -Be designed to allow efficient, non regulated* manual removal of the undisolved particles from brine making vessel, brine settlement vessel and from the storage tank. -Be designed to allow full drainage of the storage vessels to allow removal of undisolved sediment. -Be designed to transfer the liquid drained from the brine making vessel and settlement vessel to a tank truck or to the storage tank. -Be designed to allow removal of fine sediment that may be transferred to the storage tanks. -Be designed to prevent the overflow of the tank, brine making vessel and settlement vessel during the brine mixing cycle. This shall be achieved without the use of liquid level sensing switches to reduce the chance of a brine spill.
