Project Details

Project Description:
The University of Utah (the U or the University) seeks a qualified Technology Integration partner (Contractor / Integrator) to construct a new broadcast and venue production facility.
The University has approved the renovation of a legacy broadcast and production space, located within the Language and Communication building (LNCO), to support increasing needs as the University moves to the Big 12 Conference. This facility is a joint venture between University Athletics, University Auxiliary Services, and the College of Humanities. This new facility will support live event production (stadium/arena video boards), broadcasting, post-production, as well as education and curriculum under the direction of University Athletics and the College of Humanities, Department of Communication.
The architectural / physical renovation of this space is currently in progress under an associated CMGC scope of work, estimated $2,500,000.
A preliminary budget of $8,000,000 has been approved for the initial phase of technology integration within this project. Please see the attached Scope of Technical Integration for details of this request.
Coordination with Owner Supplied CMGC:
The selected technology integrator shall validate designs and coordinate needs and schedules with the owner’s selected CMGC. Architectural drawings included in this document reflect the design and intent of the architectural work, as coordinated by PGA&W Architects and University Staff.
Coordination with University IT:
Fiberoptic communications lines and pathways to campus athletic venues including football, baseball, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse, will be upgraded by University IT (UIT) and will not be part of the CMGC or Technology Integration contract. This scope is primarily building to building fiber connections and connecting with existing venues. The selected integrator shall review and validate designs and proposed work by UIT, coordinating needs of the new LNCO facility with associated venues, as part of their initial detailed design process.
Project Risks:

Immediate initial design / review of details for architectural and general construction.
Impacts of import tariffs.
Coordination with Owner supplied CMGC and UIT.
Coordination and implementation of architectural elements.
Verifying there are no scope gaps between architect, system designer, integrator and UIT.
Managing budget and schedule with predictable outcomes.

Special Constraints:
Coordination with owner’s scopes (associated, but not under technology integration scope) such as CMGC and UIT is of utmost importance for a successful project.
Liquidated Damages: $2,500 per day
