The University of Utah (University) on behalf of the Helix Cardiology team is seeking an Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) Monitor Supplier (Vendor). Proposed items or systems must be able to provide services as described in the attached scope of work and minimum specifications.
Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) is a non-invasive imaging technique that maps electrical conductivity/impedance within a body or object by applying small, safe electrical currents through boundary electrodes and measuring the resulting voltage changes to create real-time images, useful for monitoring lung ventilation, assessing fluid, and detecting issues like pneumonia or pneumothorax, especially in ICUs where CT/MRI are difficult. It is non-ionizing, real time, and cost effective compared to CT or MRI to image patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). It allows for visualization of the consolidation/aeration of the lung, regionally.
Lung EIT has been used as an outcome for studies of interventions with mechanical ventilation settings, including for patients on ECMO. This is the purchaser’s area of focus in their research and so they will be investigating the effect of interventions on pulmonary EIT findings.
