It is the intention of the City to sell the property to an experienced developer that will be able to restore the historic building back to its original function and design. Also, as part of the purchase, the developer would have the option to introduce new housing units to the surrounding property. The design of the new units would need to share the same architectural theme and look as the existing historic building. The property is currently zoned R-2EC but may qualify for a conditional overlay which could allow more units on the site. Approval of any increased density / rezone / conditional overlay will be based on the historic restoration of the existing structure as well as high level of design of the new proposed product and how well it connects with the theme and vision of the property.
