Specifications include, but are not limited to: This project will provide a 13,600 Sq. ft. new home for the Outdoor Recreation Program, paired with a new Welcome Center for Weber State University. The design intent and vision is to create a high-visibility, campus jewel that is an appropriate physical-facility expression of the Outdoor Program’s value to the University. Outdoor Recreation and Welcome Center facility that includes outdoor rental storage and retail space, indoor climbing and ropes training facility, drive-thru boat storage, classrooms, offices and welcome center with presentation room and supporting office space. There are several restrooms in the facility and one unisex restroom that includes a shower. There is a trip planning kitchen adjacent to the program storage space that includes basic kitchen appliances as well as break room kitchenettes for both the welcome center and the outdoor recreation office suite. The building also includes an occupiable rooftop patio accessible from the second level classroom as well as an occupiable roof above the climbing facility that uses the exterior of the building for rappel training. The building is expected to comply with DFCM construction and High Performance Building Standards. The site includes two exiting residential buildings and supporting infrastructure that will be replaced with this new facility. Site includes parking reconfiguration and improvements. Site will also have a new trash enclosure with enclosed and secure outdoor storage for outdoor recreation equipment and welcome center golf carts. This project will have selected building systems commissioned.
