Specifications include, but are not limited to: Project Description: The UVU Sorensen Student Center addition and remodel project includes approximately 30,800 sf of new space and the remodel/refresh of approximately 95,700 sf of existing space. The Sorensen Student Center houses various student departments, is in the heart of the campus, and connects several adjacent buildings, internal corridors, and external pathways. New Spaces Include: Dining services and seating, Commissary Kitchen, Student Administration, Student Center Administration, VP-Office Suite, Health Services, and a general-purpose conference room. Remodel Spaces Include: Bookstore, Scoops Convenience Store, Center for Social Impact, Health Services, Dining services and retail vendor fronts, miscellaneous restrooms, corridors and common spaces, and also a refresh of the Center Stage and Ragan Theater. Additionally, there will be modifications to existing areas to support structural, mechanical and electrical upgrades required for both new spaces and remodel spaces. Exterior Scope Includes: Extensive site and utility upgrades to the general building, food service loading zone and access road, patch repair and utility upgrades to the Campus Courtyard, and patch and repair to the shared Student Center and Student Life quad. Contractors will be required to maintain pedestrian and loading access to various campus departments, pathways and amenities and will need to coordinate with the phasing plans and construction durations noted in the plan documents. Contractors to allow access to several retail vendor zones for separate concurrent food service remodel projects. The project includes three additive alternates noted in the plan documents. Project Risk Factors: Compact site in the middle of campus with limited access for deliveries. Access to the quad and health department has limitations with the bridge connectors and buildings. Loading dock must remain functional. Must create safe accessible pathways for students and staff throughout construction.
