Specifications include, but are not limited to: To provide Crisis Respite Care, Crisis Emergency Shelter Placements, and adoption respite services. Crisis Respite Care is safe care and supervision for children whose families may be in crisis or in need of respite and who have no other places to go. Additionally, in certain locations DHS will provide a temporary, short-term crisis Emergency Placement for children in the protective or temporary custody of DHS, The contract provides funding for respite care services to families who have Adopted Children from the Public Child Welfare system. The Contractor shall: a. Have the capacity to serve a minimum of eight children at all times. The Contractor may serve more children during daytime hours if it is able to stay within the required staff ratios and maintain a safe environment for all children. b. Ensure the that a telephone line is available and answered by the Contractor’s staff 24 hours a day, every day of the year. This telephone hotline provides crisis intervention and referral services to people while they are on the phone.
