Specifications include, but are not limited to: This Request for Information (RFI) is issued by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) and the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) to inform rolling stock manufacturers of UTA's plans to expand the FrontRunner rolling stock fleet. The purpose of this RFI is to solicit general industry comments and gather information from interested and qualified rolling stock manufacturers. UDOT/UTA are not seeking information from suppliers of rolling stock components. The information gathered through this RFI will be used to develop realistic performance requirements and specifications for inclusion in the agency's Request for Proposal (RFP) procurement documents. The FrontRunner commuter rail service operated by UTA is a largely single-track railroad providing bi-directional all-stops service between Ogden and Provo, via Salt Lake City in Utah. UTA owns, dispatches, and operates the corridor, which comprises 16 stations offering connections to local transit services and/or park-and-ride facilities. Adjacent to the FrontRunner right-of-way, the corridor owned and operated by Union Pacific is situated to the west. Freight trains serving customers east of the FrontRunner corridor have limited trackage rights for crossing moves during overnight and weekend periods when there is no passenger service. The passenger vehicles in the fleet are 22 bi-level cab and 16 bi-level coach railcars manufactured by Bombardier. In each trainset, the southernmost passenger vehicle features a control cab (cab car), while the remaining two vehicles can be either a cab or coach configuration. All FrontRunner inspections and maintenance activities, as well as the FrontRunner dispatching operations, are conducted at the Warm Springs Operations and Maintenance Facility (OMF).
