Specifications include, but are not limited to: provide secondary world language educators in Utah a fundamental understanding of the importance of the role that a proficiency mindset plays in conceptualizing, planning for, and implementing an appropriate 21st century world language education for Utah students. Participants will become more skilled in the four basic principles of proficiency; the major levels of the ACTFL proficiency continuum; and, understanding and discerning the specific examples of skills as evidenced through video. Further, they will gain an understanding of the important role that proficiency targets play in moving students through the proficiency continuum faster; they will gain access into research about why setting proficiency targets matter; and they will use formulas for setting their own targets based on the amount of instructional time that is available.
