Specifications include, but are not limited to: Provide for spraying approximately 290 pinyon pine and ponderosa pine trees with a 2% carbaryl solution for the prevention of pine beetle (Mountain pine beetle and pinyon ips) ) Contractor must be licensed and insured for pesticide application. 2. Contractor must have a spill treatment kit - specific to the insecticide product being applied. 3. Contractor must use spray kit containing: 200-300 feet of hose, Hydraulic sprayers capable of maintaining 325-400+ pounds per square inch (PSI) as the material is applied are necessary to reach the appropriate spray height on the tree. For trees >16 inches diameter breast height (dbh), a #10- 12 nozzle orifice (0.396-0.475 mm) will be used with a sustained PSI of 400+ to reach 45-50 feet on the tree bole. 4. Carbaryl Mixing and Use: Only liquid formulation of carbaryl will be used, with a mixing ratio of 4 gallons (40+% Carbaryl active ingredient) per 100 Gallons of water to equal a total of 2% active ingredient solution, with a water pH not exceeding 7. Lake or stream water used in the tank mix will be filtered to avoid clogging nozzles. All mixed carbaryl will be used shortly after mixing, with no overnight storage for following day use. Adequate carbaryl must be provided by the contractor – Average five gallons per tree – (Estimated 1575 Gallons unmixed carbaryl). Approximately 290 trees total. 5. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be needed and worn by contractor and all employees during spraying operations: (1) approved first aid kit (2) hand protection – gloves impervious to pesticides; (3) eye/face protection: goggles, or mask if working in direct or close contact with chemicals; (4) chemicalresistant garments – disposal coveralls or waterproof leg protection to prevent chemical pesticide absorption through clothing; (5) rubber boots – recommended when walking for extended periods of time in active spray area; (6) hard hat, to limit exposure of head and face; (7) Respirator with type 6002, 501, 5N11, SA2000, 9913, or 9913V type filters for respiratory protection. 6. Water for spray application, cleanup, and emergency use will be provided by the contractor: All water needed for spraying preparation, implementation, clean up, and potential spills will be provided by the contractor, and must be available throughout spraying operations. 7. Application conditions: Carbaryl will not be applied in wet conditions where tree boles are damp to the touch, or there is presence of pooled water or snow on the ground surface. If wind speeds, sustained or gusting, are at 10+ mph, operations will cease until conditions improve. 9. Digital Maps: Contractor and lead personnel must have ability to use digital georeferenced maps (such as Avenza) to locate property boundaries and treatment areas electronically.
