To meet instructional goals and align with current simulation practice, the simulator must include the following: Obstetric Features ● Realistic vaginal delivery (spontaneous and assisted) ● Ability to simulate the following obstetric scenarios: ○ Breech delivery ○ Shoulder dystocia ○ Cord prolapse ○ Placenta delivery ○ Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) ● Self-contained, cleanable postpartum hemorrhage simulation system (e.g., internal blood reservoir or mat-based system that minimizes cleanup and fluid waste) ● Cuttable umbilical cord with attachable/reattachable placenta ● Anatomical landmarks for fetal positioning (e.g., ischial spines, pubic bone) ● McRoberts maneuver positioning with flexible lower limbs ● Palpable uterine contractions, including tonic and atonic states ● Suprapubic pressure recognition and assessment capability Maternal Care Practice ● Urinary catheterization (with urine return) ● Subcutaneous and intramuscular injection sites ● Sites for postpartum assessment (including perineal and rectal access) ● Anatomically correct pelvic structures for bi-manual compression ● Durable, portable, and easy to clean Newborn Features ● Realistic full-term neonate (weight and size) ● Palpable fontanelles and limb articulation ● Identification of fetal presentation pre-delivery Instructor & Operational Support ● Instructor control interface to adjust scenarios and bleeding output ● Wireless, table-top, or laptop-based operating system ● Ability to simulate delivery drills such as: ○ Eclampsia ○ Preeclampsia ○ Maternal collapse General Requirements ● Must be suitable for classroom and lab-based simulation ● Must be compatible with simulation center logistics (no special plumbing or drainage systems required)
