Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification. The UDOT Avalanche program works with many different helicopter companies and none are able to provide the services required for Helicopter Avalanche Mitigation at this time.; The helicopter, its fuel, service, transportation and all other costs shall be provided by the Contractor. The helicopter, pilot, and crew must be available during the winter season (November – April) and be available within eight (8) hour’s notice.; 2.2 The helicopter shall be capable of hovering and maneuvering at altitudes, up to 11,500 feet, and be designed to carry 4 passengers.; 2.3 The aircraft must continuously meet and/or comply with current F.A.A. Standards and Regulations for Airworthiness, and any other requirement from any governing authority.; 2.4 The pilot shall be a Qualified Mountain Pilot with 300 hours Pilot time in the type of aircraft being used. The Pilot shall have at least 25 hours, in the last six months, above 8,000 feet in mountainous terrain, including high altitude take-offs, landings and hovering, and flying in adverse weather conditions. All crew personnel shall have the appropriate licenses and certifications required by all governing authorities to perform the work.; 2.5 The UDOT Avalanche Safety team may continue to work with the Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) helicopter crews to perform avalanche mitigation work or assist the avalanche program in its operations at their discretion, at anytime during the contract period.
