All correspondence must be made through the Vendor Portal. Specifications include, but are not limited to: Square Top Fuels Reduction Unit: Existing slash and old slash piles will be consolidated into slash decks using a log skidder, feller buncher, log loader and/or a dozer with a commercial grade brush rake. Cut/skid/slash deck live and dead trees using feller buncher, log skidder, log loader, and dozer/skid cat with commercial grade brush rake. Creation of bunches, combined to make slash decks is the intention. No Ponderosa Pine will be cut. Aspen, White Fir, Douglas Fir and Spruce greater than 12” DBH will be cut, skidded, decked, and processed into saw logs. Exception to this will be to establish an average leave tree spacing of 40’. Leave trees will be of good form and vigor. Saw log specs will be established prior to processing. Slash resulting from processing will be jackpot piled at the landing. Aspen, White Fir, Douglas Fir and Spruce under 10” DBH will be cut and slash decked. Slash decks will be a minimum of ten-foot-tall and no longer than 30’ in length. Slash decks will be twice as high as wide. Damaged or unhealthy “not to cut trees” will be removed; for example: broken tops, snow damaged, mistletoe infested, and or twin topped trees. Total treatment area may be utilized for slash decks. Slash decks will be a minimum of 150’ apart. All standing and downed dead will be cut/skid/stacked in created slash decks or all sound merchantable dead will be incorporated in log decks. With the exception to downed trees decomposing into the ground. All berms over two feet in height created by the contractor’s equipment will be reclaimed. Concentration of merchantable log decks at access roads will be necessary. Any additional spur/routes must be pre-approved by agency administrator. Stump height: 10” measured on uphill side. Whips off of stumps will be removed.; Merchantable specifications: Determination of minimum saw log specs: Green 10” DBH, 5” top DIB, and 16 ft. long Dead 12” DBH, 8” top DIB, and 16 ft. long The location of landings will be negotiated between the contractor and the agency administrator Logs shorter than the specified 16 feet will go into slash decks. Use of “rub” trees to protect leave trees while skidding are required while tree length skidding. These designated trees will be harvested at the end of skidding operations. Damaged trees are any trees with over one third of the circumference bark removed on any segment of the bole or one third of the crown removed or damaged. All slash decks must be constructed in a way suitable for burning, tightly built to facilitate burning. All slash decks must be at least 25 feet away from any residual trees measured from drip line to burn pile. All slash decks must be free of any soil and trash.
