Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification. COSMED USA. The COSMED BOD POD is the only air displacement plethysmograph available in the world. Key features include: Body volume, weight, fat, and fat-free measurements using whole body densitometry; Non-invasive and safe for frequent testing; Excellent test to test reliability; For subjects up to 550 lbs and 7 ft tall; Flexibility in testing special populations; Faster test times; Direct measurement of Thoracic gas volume. UVU's Exercise Science program requires the above features because we use the BOD POD to teach and train students on how to use it so they are able to have a valuable skill set that sets them apart from students at other Universities when applying to grad school or to jobs. We also perform research that relies on the BOD POD's features (over 2,000 published research articles since 1995) of being non-invasive, safe, and excellent test to test reliability, and direct measurement of thoracic gas volume. We perform a lot of athlete testing for UVU athletics and we have performed tests on multiple 7 foot basketball players over the years.
