Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department of Human Services (DHS) operates the Nutrition Program for the Elderly, also known as Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels is a national program that provides nutritious meals to clients aged 60 years or older: 1) at authorized congregate sites and 2) to the homes for those who have health conditions that keep them primarily homebound.; • Procuring all food items needed to prepare the required meals.; • Daily preparation of all required meals.; • Delivery of all Home Delivered Meals to clients’ homes (Note: DHS staff will pick up the Congregate or Senior Center Meals from the selected Vendor on all days requests for food are submitted by the Senior Center staff); Menu Policies: All meals served must contain the following: • Calorie level of no less than 750 calories per meal; • A fat content of no more than 35% of calories per meal; • A sodium content of less than 1200 mg per meal; • 30 micrograms of Vitamin C per meal; • An average of 8 grams of fiber per meal over the course of the week; • An average of 300 micrograms of Vitamin A per meal over the course of the week
