Specifications include, but are not limited to: Psychological Wellness Services to School Aged Students in the St. Thomas/St. John School District on behalf of the Department of Education. Through the contracted service the VIDE anticipates providing support to students experiencing challenges both academically and socially. The service provider(s) will provide psychological services and support that will allow the department to address a wide range of clinical and behavioral issues that negatively impact student performance, including: interpersonal factors (school and familial relationships), behavioral concerns (non-compliance, oppositional responses, peer conflicts, and truancy issues), anger management (verbal/physical outbursts), aggression (verbal/physical), trauma, as well as various other functional and dysfunctional issues. These services will allow the STTJ School District to improve student resiliency as we endeavor to identify the root causes of the emotional distress and provide necessary coping strategies and other mental wellness strategies. Service provider(s) will be required to use research-based methodologies that will assist students in openly identify and addressing dynamic interpersonal processes, often related to life stressors, that otherwise cannot be attended to at home, in the classroom setting, or at their home school. Service provider(s) will also work with the students’ families to address concerns once observed.
