Specifications include, but are not limited to: Professional engineering design services, as well as all associated engineering services, necessary to advance the sanitary sewer overflow and reduction program (SSORP) project known as W-6 Upper Segment to the final design phase, which includes both bid and construction phase services. The project addresses a capacity constraint within the western sewershed, which serves approximately 500,000 residents. See Project Charter, Appendix XX, for an exhibit showing the proposed project alignment and limits. This project consists of replacing approximately 19,000 LF of existing 54-inch sanitary sewer main with 29,000 LF of 60-inch and 90-inch gravity sanitary sewer pipelines. The project also includes tie-ins to two other CD projects, the W-1 Lower Segment and the W-6 Middle Segment. Additionally, the project will include tie-ins to a number of existing smaller collector lines throughout the proposed alignment. The project extends from a location east of Leon Creek along U.S. Highway 90 (US90) to the intersection of US90 and Military Drive, then heads southward along Military Drive to Pearsall Road. Proposed alignment includes installation of 2,250 LF of large diameter (60-inch) sewer installation via open cut along US90 and installation of 26,750 LF of large diameter (90-inch) sewer via deep tunneling (100 foot or greater) from the connection to the W-1 Lower Segment Project to the tie-in with the W-6 Middle Segment Project.
