Specifications include, but are not limited to: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is seeking sealed proposals for statewide vegetation sampling and assessment services on an as-needed basis. 7.1.1. Follow the standard data collection procedures established by the National Park Service as detailed in the Fire Monitoring Handbook (2003) and TPWD Standards and Protocols for Baseline Vegetation Studies on Texas State Parks (TPWD 2010); 7.1.2. Collect and analyze quantitative vegetation data and provide a written technical report on the results of the study for each of the selected state parks within ecoregions; 7.1.3. Upon award of the contract(s), TPWD will provide the investigator with global positioning system (GPS) coordinates taken in the UTM coordinate system and the NAD 1983 datum for all of the locations of the plots that shall be established or re-sampled; 7.1.4. Newly established plots shall be permanently staked, geo-referenced (with a minimum of 180 positions using UTM NAD 1983) and labeled as described in more detail for each type of plot below and according to guidance in the Fire Monitoring Handbook; 7.1.5. Plots that are to be re-sampled are already established and geo-referenced. However, re-sampled plots shall be re-labeled as described in more detail below. The Fire Monitoring Handbook allows some decisions regarding the size of quarters, plots, and transects to the investigator, however, TPWD desires consistency in the data collected in the studies covered in this project, and has, therefore, developed standardized sizes for the required sampling plots by ecoregion (below table). In addition, the required types of data sheets and photographs for each plot type are specified in Table 2.
