Specifications include, but are not limited to: Program radios to maintain repeaters and comparators for multiple separate frequency channels. Install, adjust, and repair stationary and mobile radio transmitting and receiving equipment and two-way radio communication systems. Plans and executes maintenance services for radio equipment. Measure, test and adjust equipment to ensure compliance with equipment specifications and FCC Rules and Regulations. Troubleshoot and carry out repairs to equipment and systems. Remove and replace defective components and parts such as conductors, resistors, semiconductors, and integrated circuits, using soldering irons, wire cutters and hand tools. Repair circuits, wiring, and soldering, using soldering irons and hand tools to install parts and adjust connections. Verify proper IP operation on C-Soft (software IP dispatch console) to confirm Voice Over IP is functioning properly. Test batteries using appropriate testing equipment such as hydrometers, multimeters, etc. Determine battery’s service life; charge batteries and or replace batteries as necessary. Test emergency transmitters to ensure their readiness for immediate use. Employs advanced knowledge of electronic technology including analog, digital, and radio frequency generation techniques to install, remove, modify, maintain, repair, and operate complex equipment used in a communication system such as microwave transmitters, receivers, and common equipment such as combiners, multiplexers, band switching equipment, microprocessor-based alarm and control systems, data transmission equipment, telephone station equipment, mobile repeater stations, base stations, vehicle radios, and portable radios. Maintains serviceability and compliance with all applicable warranty programs. Performs initial tests on new equipment to determine compliance with purchase specifications; installs equipment and performs tests necessary to ensure compliance with system objectives and applicable FCC Rules and Regulations. Reviews completed work orders, worksheets, and repair forms for accuracy. Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work area. Must possess and be able to use basic hand tools including electrical testing equipment and handheld electronic devices. Must have the ability to perform the essential functions as described above including the ability to maneuver objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. May work around high voltages and non-ionizing radiation levels. May be required to work under severe environmental conditions and temperature extremes.
