Specifications include, but are not limited to: Facility shall have caged space large enough to accommodate Harris County for server cabinets, security, power, access to local loop providers, cooling, and fire suppression with first right of refusal on additional space as needed. All critical infrastructure components such as power, cooling, and Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity shall be configured for N+1 redundancy such that the overall system integrity shall not be impacted by the failure of any one component. Harris County requires both concurrently maintainable N+1 systems and fully fault tolerant for all portions of the systems. Facility shall be located within Harris County, but no closer to downtown Houston than the Sam Houston Tollway/Beltway 8. o The facility must be in close proximity to County owned dark fiber. o Located north, northwest, or west of downtown Houston and shall be constructed and certified to withstand a Category four (4) hurricane. o In the event of flooding or any other natural or man-made event facility shall have entry/exit driveways onto two (2) major highways (or feeder roads) thereby establishing two (2) paths to or from vendor’s facility. o Currently HCTRA does not consider assignment of threat or risk of close proximity to major highways, rail lines, and hazardous material storage due to risk of events that could cause mandatory evacuation (Chemical spills, explosion, etc.), however, HCTRA may consider aforementioned in the future.
