Specifications include, but are not limited to: Reconstruction and widening of the current Medical District Drive from a four-lane section to a six-lane divided thoroughfare with turn lanes over a distance of 1,380 feet. The proposed typical section would require up to 123 feet of right-of-way (ROW) that would include six 12-foot-wide travel lanes separated by a 15-foot-wide raised median with one-foot-wide curb and gutter offsets. The proposed ROW would also accommodate a four-foot-wide, one-way bicycle lane and a six and a half-foot-wide concrete sidewalk on both sides of the reconstructed roadway. The 15-foot-wide median would narrow to six feet wherever left-turn lanes are provided, and a two-foot-wide paved buffer would separate the bicycle lanes from the travel lanes. The project also proposes to relocate a driveway providing access to the TRE station and to construct right and left-turn lanes from Medical District Drive. The project would also provide a landscape buffer, as well as paving and drainage along the corridor. Bus shelters would be relocated as required. As part of project construction, the existing TRE bridges over Medical District Drive would be replaced to accommodate the widened Medical District Drive and to improve vertical clearance beneath the bridge structures to 16.0 feet. There are 520 working days allocated for the construction of all improvements.
