Specifications include, but are not limited to: a. Mowing Mowing all turf areas as follows: 1) All turf areas mowed weekly (unless otherwise indicated), at recommended heights, during the growing season. 2) Mowing boundaries of these sites will be determined by: a) Edge of roadways to fences, or tree/brush/shrub lines. b) In the absence of fences or tree/brush/shrub lines the outside edge shall be ten (10) feet. 3) Removal of grass clippings from the grounds will not be required, unless otherwise specified. Cut grass and debris which fall or is thrown by equipment upon the pavement, streets, curb, gutters, sidewalks, and driveways, or adjacent properties through the action of the work crew, will be removed from the area prior to the exit of the work crew from the immediate work site. 4) Removal of all litter and fallen leaves from the entire property, and hauling such debris away. 5) Litter must be removed from turf prior tomowing. 6) Areas serviced will have a finished appearance with walks and curb areas appearing to have been swept. The successful bidder(s) shall not simply blow litter, leaves, clippings, etc. into the streetsor other property. 7) All concrete and/or asphalt areas where weeds are growing in the expansion joints must be trimmed or treated with an approved herbicide as needed. 8) The successful bidder shall be responsible for mowing and line trimming related to creeks, ponds, and/or lakes and all adjacent slopes and banks, to the water line. Do not allow mowers to throw grass into lakes, ponds, or waterways. b. Edging Edging all turf along walks, curbs, plant beds, signs and other obstacles as follows: 1) Turf edged and trimmed each time turf ismowed. 2) Ground cover along building walls, sidewalks, steps, curbs, edging etc. are trimmed as needed during growing season. 3) All edging will be with a fixed blade edger that leaves a sharp edge (not a monofilament trimmer). c. Bed Maintenance 1) All bed areas will be policed for weeds, paper and debris each cycle. 2) All planter beds, tree circles, sidewalk cracks, etc., are to be sprayed as needed to control unwanted grasses and broadleafweeds. 3) Chemical practices shall not be a substitute for hand weeding where the latter is required for complete removal. 4) Adequate mulch is required for suitable weed control. 5) Shrubs, groundcovers, espaliered shrubs and vines shall be inspected each cycle and pruned according to recommended horticultural practices to 6) Shrubbery shall be inspected and pruned as needed to insure the correct shape and natural growth habit for the area in which the shrubs aregrowing. 7) Tip prune selected branchlets of low growing shrub or groundcover masses to maintain an even overall height to promote fullness. 8) Groundcover plantings will be pruned as required to restrain perimeter growth to within planting bed areas where adjacent to walks and curbs. d. Ornamental Tree Requirements Pruning of ornamental trees shall be done to enhance natural growth. Ornamental tree pruning will include the following: 1) Removal of dead, damaged, improper branching and diseased portions of the plant. 2) All cuts shall be flush and clean, leaving no stubs or tearing of bark. 3) Emergency or minor pruning shall be performed when needed. 4) Provide remedial attention and repair to shrubs and trees as appropriate by season, or in response to incidental damage. 5) Trim, prune and remove suckers from ornamental tree as needed or directed by the Town department representative 6) Monitor and inspect ornamental trees to detect pest problems, Treat and control pests in compliance with the State of Texas Structural Pest Control Board Laws and Regulations of the Texas Department of Agriculture.
