Specifications include, but are not limited to: 8.7.1 Annually inspect, maintain and recharge, for a fully operable system, each portable fire extinguisher at each building location listed, at a time selected by the City. 8.7.2 Verify each portable fire extinguisher is fully charged and operable. Advise the designated department contact person or designee and perform a hydrostatic test on each portable fire extinguisher, as required by NFPA 10-Table 5A, latest edition. Gauge pressures shall be in operable range. Nozzles, discharge valves, and hoses shall be unobstructed, and lock pins and dated tamper seals shall be in place, as a minimum. 8.7.3 Recharge dry chemical portable fire extinguishers if gross weight is less than manufacturer’s recommendations. 8.7.4 Identify any Halon-type portable fire extinguishers in need of recharge. The Contract shall only fill Halon-type portable fire extinguishers at the request of the City. The City may decide to replace the type of unit rather than refill. 8.7.5 Re-inspect a missed unit at no additional charge to the City if a fire extinguisher is not inspected/checked during the Contractor’s inspection.
