Specifications include, but are not limited to: I. Contractor Requirements 1. The Contractor must certify 10 students for a minimum of four years as instructors upon completion of the De-Escalation course. 2. The Contractor must provide a paper certificate of achievement to each student upon course completion. 3. The Contractor must provide workbooks for each student a week prior to the course being held. 4. The Instructors that complete the course will have the ability to develop their own program to instruct within the agency. 5. The certification provided to the students will allow them to conduct training that was developed by DPS as subject matter experts within the agency. II. Training The curriculum will include, at a minimum, the following learning objectives: 1. Discuss and explain the principles of De-Escalation. 2. Discuss and provide examples of how each student should adapt themselves to certain situations. 3. Discuss the different levels of escalation and when to utilize them. 4. Discuss and provide examples of how to assess and de-escalate situations. 5. Discuss and provide examples of how to manage and control the environment around them. 6. Discuss and provide examples of how to work together as a team to de-escalatesituations. 7. Discuss how to support others and maintain safety in times of escalatedsituations. 8. Provide examples and exercises to assist with the understanding of the course being taught.
