Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Captionists are required to partner with Students to determine what vocabulary works best for them. We accommodate to the individual communication needs of the deaf and hard of hearing Students. 2. Captionists are required to be communication mediums only. At no point should their input effect the natural progression of communication within the assignment. 3. Travel/Administration/Fixed Fee (or similar fees) to the location where services are to be rendered shall be billed at the standard hourly rate of one (1) hour per day and is capped at no more than one (1) hour of travel/administration/fixed fee (or similar fees) per day per provider. 4. Parking charges incurred by providers will not be reimbursed by the University. All providers have to utilize visitor parking. 5. The University will not pay for services on the days of campus closures. Campus closures are an exception to the 24-hour notification requirement. The University closes due to emergencies that are announced on the website, through the University’s official social media channels, or on the local news. 6. If providers are late to an assignment, then the University has a right to dock the time that they were not providing services. Agencies are required to communicate with the Director or designee when their providers are going to be late. The University will only pay for the assignment time when services were rendered. 7. Captionists will email Students transcripts within two business days of the assignment. 8. Captionists will not preform work for an assignment if the Student is not present, unless prior authorization has been obtained from the Director or designee. 9. Transcribing videos or pre-recorded audio will be billed at a maximum of 1.5 times the original recording time. If a Captionist requires longer, they must get prior approval from the Director or designee. 10. All virtual work will be billed at the same rate as in-person work.
