This is a performance based, non-personal services requirement to provide medical waste and Personally Identifiable
Information (PII) disposal services. The AFDTL disposes of approximately 1,000,000 urinalysis samples. A sample
consists of a 105 mL round capped bottle, 15 to 90 mL of urine, and less than 5 grams of labels and seals. The labels
contain social security numbers and names, which constitutes PII. This may add up to 200,000 total pounds of
medical waste annually. The AFDTL is able to handle medical waste containers of 96-gallon capacity. These
containers can hold a maximum of 500 lbs. of waste, but on average contain only 320 lbs. of waste upon collection.
On site disposal and destruction of excess sample collection bottles is not feasible due to manpower requirements and
facility limitations. The AFDTL requires services for this medical and PII waste disposal.
