Construct a new permanent airtanker base at ABI to support existing Forest Service operations. The work generally includes construction of a new apron on the south side of Taxiway M including support infrastructure such as vehicle parking areas, access roadway improvements, and Forest Service operations infrastructure. The proposed improvements, as shown in attached Project Location Map, include the following: • Construct a new concrete apron south of Taxiway M to accommodate up to four (4) large airtanker (LAT) active retardant loading positions and four (4) additional LAT parking positions. • Airfield stormwater and drainage infrastructure improvements including inlets, pipe, and a stormwater pond with any necessary diversion structures. • Relocation of power and communication ducts, FAA duct banks within the project limits. • Relocation/abandonment of an existing Atmos natural gas line within the project limits. • Concrete trench and storage pits for retardant loading hoses and equipment. • Concrete parking area for Forest Service personnel. • Retardant delivery truck unloading and turnaround pavements. • Reconstruction and realignment of the existing vehicle service road between the ARFF facility and the airport security fence near Industrial Blvd.
