Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Victoria ISD Child Nutrition Department is requesting proposals from local vendors for alternative entrée menu items. Prices or discounts are to be firm for one (1) year, effective July 1, 2020 (or upon award) through June 30, 2021. These items do include but are not limited to hot or cold sandwiches, pizza, hotdogs, etc. All items must meet the United States Department of Agriculture regulations. It can be viewed on the Texas Department of Agriculture website (www.squaremeals.com). To be considered, nutritional information must be provided to Victoria ISD-Child Nutrition Department. Summary of regulations: 30% or less of calories from fat 10% or less of calories from saturated fat Zero trans fat Maximum 10 grams of sugar per 1 oz. serving At least 50% whole grain breads It is the preference of the Child Nutrition Department: to limit sodium to >1600 mg per serving. provide 2 ounces of meat/meat alternate (minimum) (i.e. 6-inch sandwich, 1/8 of a large pizza, 4-inch burger bun sandwich, etc.) products provided to the students will be high quality The vendor will supply their product to Victoria East High School, Victoria West High School and the academic center on alternating days. The schedule will be determined by the Director of Child Nutrition. Ordering of product will be done the week prior to delivery. Orders can be changed (reduced/increased) the day before scheduled delivery. Depending on the popularity of the item and student attendance, orders may need to be increased the day of service. The vendor must be able to accommodate at least a 25% increase in volume. The vendor will deliver product to the respective campus kitchen in clean sanitary containers at the proper temperatures. Victoria ISD will keep the product at temperature upon arrival.
