Specifications include, but are not limited to: It is the intent of this specification to provide for the purchase of a new Runway and roadway De-icing Truck mounted to a 74,000-lbs GVWR chassis and provides the latest technology of Runway and roadway De-Icer with automatic material control and application rate control. ; SALIENT FEATURES: 2.1 4000-gallon De-Icer unit mounted on suitable chassis. 2.1.1 All equipment can be operated from in cab, including application rate, movement of booms, and opening and closing of spray nozzles. 2.1.2 Spray boom is in three sections and nozzles in each section may be operated independent of other sections. 2.2 Controls: 2.2.1 All equipment is to be operable from in the cab of the truck including movement of booms, application rate, and opening closing of spray nozzles. 2.2.2 Each section of the boom is to be able to be operated independent of the other sections. 2.2.3 The controls will be located for easy access by the truck driver and will be illuminated for nighttime operation. 2.3 Spray Boom: 2.3.1 Boom will be constructed of high tensile 1-inch seamless round tubing 1” O.D. x 0.120 wall thickness in a triangular design for maximum strength to weight ratio. 2.3.2 Each boom wing will be constructed in two sections. 2.3.3 The first section swinging from alongside the chassis when in transport position to parallel with the center rack while spraying this boom section is called the “A” section. 2.3.4 Attached to this section is another boom which is designed to fold up and directly over the “A” while in transport position, and fold down and parallel with the “A” section while spraying. 2.3.5 This section of the boom is referred to as the “B” section. 2.3.6 Booms are designed to break away to prevent damage in the event of striking an object using a clutch breakaway device. 2.3.7 The spray swath is 75-ft. when fully extended and 50-ft. when the “B” section is folded up. 2.3.8 Boom structure must be designed to encompass boom plumbing and nozzles to prevent damage from occurring. 2.3.9 Booms will be secured while in the transport position by a positive locking system which is operated from in the truck cab.
