The Tex-TRAC TeleSANEs will support, guide and mentor the on-site clinician to provide care and effectively collect evidence within a patient empowerment framework. Tex-TRAC TeleSANEs will maintain currency of practice and contribute to the Tex-TRAC team. This Tex-TRAC TeleSANE position requires occasional travel to the Texas A&M Health Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing site located in Bryan, Texas. Applicants must have a private and secure location to provide telehealth medical forensic exam guidance and reliable internet service. Tex-TRAC TeleSANE Responsibilities (See Appendix A, B, and C: Tex-TRAC TeleSANE for complete list of responsibilities, policies, and professional service agreement): • Assist patient and on-site clinician to navigate patient options including medications, reporting, and evidence collection through informed consent and informed declination. • Mentor and support the on-site clinician as they provide a physical examination, collection of evidence, resource referrals, documentation, photography, and time with a confidential community-based advocate when available. • Model Duffy’s Quality Caring behaviors including mutual problem solving, attentive reassurance, human respect, encouraging manner, appreciation of unique meaning, creating a healing environment, addressing basic human and affiliation needs. • Take minimum amount of call required. • Follow protocols established by program management and exercise professional judgment in utilizing and using the onsite nurse to the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. • Participate in regular team meetings. • Case review for each encounter. • Regular check-ins with Tex-TRAC Forensic Nurse Manager. • Testify in criminal court as a witness for consulted cases. • Maintain currency of practice. • Precept onboarding forensic nurses. • Attend Tex-TRAC trainings as required. • Provide a current Curriculum Vitae for consideration to become a TeleSANE. • Ability to respond to email within one business day. • Ability to begin encounter within 45 minutes of dispatch. • Take call for one program at a time with no overlap. • Unrestricted access to a computer with high-speed internet. • Use of university supplied computer for encounters.
