Specifications include, but are not limited to: Snow Blower, Self-Contained, Loader Mounted, Min 3CY in accorance with TxDOT specification number 765-58-10, Revised March 2022; This specification describes a minimum 1,200 tons per hour snow blower that will be attached to a pneumatic-tired loader. The snow blower shall be a completely selfcontained unit mounted on a standard chassis, with integral snow blower and engine, electric starting system with battery (ies) and hydrostatic or mechanical drive system capable of blowing snow a distance of not less than 150 feet from the combined unit. The unit shall be attached by pins, bolts, or mounting brackets directly to the loader lifting mechanism without additional welding or modifications to the loader. Units furnished to this specification shall meet or exceed all requirements.; CAPACITY: The unit furnished shall be capable of the following performance and capacities under the following conditions: 3.1. CONDITIONS: 3.1.1. Elevation – approximately 4,000 feet above sea level.; 3.1.2. Weight of snow – approximately 25 pounds per cubic foot.; 3.1.3. Condition of snow – undisturbed.; 3.2. PERFORMANCE: 3.2.1. Casting distance – minimum 85 feet, full throttle operation.; 3.2.2. Snow cutting depth – minimum 42 inches. ; CUTTER AND HOUSING: 5.1. Cutter shall be serrated augers or ribbon reel type or bolt on replaceable ice breaker fan style.; 5.2. Diameter of cutter(s), or combined height of augers shall be manufacturers recommended size in order to meet performance requirement’s.; 5.3. Cutting width, minimum 102 inches. ; BLOWER AND CHUTES: 6.1. Blower shall be fan type design..; 6.2. Discharge chute shall have hydraulic-controlled rotation in horizontal arc of not less than 270 degrees.; 6.3. Loading chute shall be hydraulically controlled and shall be capable of loading nearby trucks, and casting snow a maximum distance of not less than 85 feet to the left and right sides.; HYDRAULIC SYSTEM: Hydraulic system shall be as normally provided by the manufacturer and be of size, type and capacity to perform all required operations simultaneously.; 7.1. System shall be sealed against entry of contaminants and any necessary air vents shall be filtered.; 7.2. A means to maintain hydraulic oil at satisfactory operating temperatures during heavy continuous cutting operations.; 7.3. Hydraulic pressure-relief valve(s).; ENGINE: The unit shall be equipped with a liquid-cooled, minimum four cylinder, four cycle, industrial design, minimum Tier Final, turbocharged diesel engine meeting, but not limited to the following: 8.1. Minimum 210 SAE Net Flywheel HP at governed RPM.; 8.2. A 12V or 24V electrical system consisting of a starter and heavy duty alternator which shall be highest rated available from the manufacture. The alternator shall be capable of fully powering all electrical components simultaneously, including accessories, while they operate under maximum load.; 8.3. A sealed, spill-proof, absorbed glass mat (AGM) type (no free electrolyte) maintenance-free battery with sufficient cold cranking amperes (CCA) total battery rating to reliably start the unit in zero degree Fahrenheit weather. Shall be covered by minimum 12 month full replacement warranty and minimum 36 month prorated warranty. Replacement battery shall be furnished by vendor during 12 month initial warranty period at no cost (including shipping or environmental fees) to TxDOT.
