1. All work shall be completed in accordance with TxDOT Item 316 “Surface Treatment” with Pre-coated #4 aggregate and all other reference items and material specifications included in the 2014 TxDOT Standard Specifications for Construction and Maintenance of Highway, Streets, and Bridges. Asphalt cement shall be AC-20-5TR. Application rate for asphalt cement shall be between 0.36 gal./ square yard and 0.38 gal/square yard. The rock shallbe pre-coated #4 hard rock. Application rate for rock shall be 1 cubic yard to 110 square yards. The City of Athens will require certification of all materials prior to use on the job. 2. The Contractor will be required to cover all manhole covers, water meters, and water valve covers before placement of the asphalt application. The contractor will be required to remove such covering after the seal coat application has been made. 3. The Contractor shall keep to a minimum the interruption of access to adjacent property. Driveway to residences and businesses shall be kept open as much as practical. 4. All loose rock will be swept and picked up before final payment. 5. The Contractor shall be required to sweep any accumulation of loose rocks during the 12- month warranty period if deemed necessary by the Public Works Director. 6. Director of Public Works and Contractor will inspect all streets immediately after completion and note any faulty areas. After a 3-week period, the Director of Public Works and Contractor will again inspect all streets and note faulty areas. The Contractor shall repair all areas noted in both inspections. After the repairs are made, the Director of Public Works will make a final inspection. Payment will be made within a ten (10) day period after the Director of Public Works approves completed work on final inspection. 7. All work is to be completed in full within 60 days after the date stated in the work order on which work is to be commenced. 8. Contractor shall provide all traffic control. 9. Materials on hand will not be paid. If partial payments are made, retainage of 10% will be held and not paid to the contractor until final acceptance of all streets. All stockpiled material will be removed from the City property prior to final payment. If material is left after final payment is made it becomes the property of the City of Athens
