Specifications include, but are not limited to: Line 1: Salt Brine Production Systems, Automated Referenced Manufacturer/Model Nos. or CPA-Approved Equal: Camion – Brine Master Cargill – AccuBatch GVM – EZ Brine systems (EBS) / Brine Production Systems (BPS) Henderson – Brine Extreme Varitech – SB600 with Brine Boss / Brine Boss Eco automated salt brine production system. (1) Brine Maker Configuration/Design: a. Shall be a portable unit, movable with a forklift (3,500-pound capacity). b. Shall be suitable for set up inside or outside a building. c. Shall consist of a mixing / holding tank for rock salt / fresh water and a separate produced brine tank or capability to deliver directly to external Customer-provided storage. d. Each tank bottom shall slope towards a floor drain / bulkhead door to allow cleaning and removal of sediment without disassembly or moving the whole unit. (2) Tank Materials: Overall system shall be comprised of non-corrodible materials such as: a. Stainless steel; b. Rotationally molded or injection molded one-piece tanks comprised of polyethylene, polypropylene, PVDF or PVC compounds (limit number of welds, joints, or seams at the faces of the tank) (internal bulkheads and stiffening webs may be welded / jointed); or, c. Marine-grade Fiberglass. (3) All tank materials shall be UV resistant or painted / coated with UV resistant protective system/material. (4) Tank Dimensions: a. Maximum Length: 186 inches (15.5 feet) b. Maximum Height: 84 inches (7.0 feet) c. Weight: Maximum 2,500 pounds per component (skid unit – brine maker, stand-alone electronic control system, etc.) (5) Tank Storage/Holding Capacity: Rock Salt Hopper Capacity of a of Minimum 2 Cubic Yards. (6) Plumbing and Plumbing Components: a. Unit shall be made for use with domestic potable water and crushed crystalline rock salt. b. All plumbing components, connection and valves shall be comprised of non-corrodible materials suitable for use with high concentration salt brine. c. Unit shall feature recirculation mechanism from produced brine back to salt hopper to adjust salinity. d. Unit shall include a minimum of one pump: i. Centrifugal design ii. Non-corrodible materials for impeller (Stainless steel, marine grade bronze, etc.) iii. Impeller design capable of passing ¼ inch solids. iv. UL or NEMA listed wiring materials / methods. v. Minimum of 1 horsepower rated at minimum of 40 Gallons per minute (GPM) vi. Self-priming vii. Drain port at lowest point of impeller. (7) Unit shall include inlet and outlet ports: a. Fresh water intake points shall be configured on the system to allow for draining (plumb/slope pipes to contain fresh water to a low point with an operable ¼ turn ball valve or plug so the system may be drained when not in use or during sub-freezing conditions). b. Piping and connections shall be capable of withstanding 75 psi working pressure, up to 150 psi surge pressure. 7-2023 Solicitation No. 304T-24-545A1 Page A11 c. Valves connecting to intake water supply shall be slow-close or intake plumbing equipped with pressure surge protection against rapid closing valves (water-hammer effect). d. Outlet plumbing shall be designed to be capable of meeting required production rate. (8) Production Rate / Concentration: a. Minimum continuous production rate of 2,400 Gallons per Hour at salinity of 23.3 – 26.4% concentration of salt (NaCl). b. Minimum batch production rate of 500 Gallons per Hour at salinity of 23.3 – 26.4% concentration of salt (NaCl). Units without associated produced brine tank may be allowed to batch directly to external storage tanks provided by TXDOT. (9) Electric / Control Systems: a. Unit shall have high- and low-level water sensors to stop the flow of water / brine automatically. b. Unit shall have an electrical operating voltage of either 110V to 125V or 207V to 253V Alternating Current (AC) at 60 Hz and shall not exceed 40 Amperes of power draw. c. Power supply shall be plug-in capable (no hard wiring required) with a standard UL or NEMA style male plug of the appropriate gauge and length of wire for the maximum power demand of the unit. d. All wiring shall be of UL or NEMA approved materials and procedures. Unit shall be grounded to the frame of the control panel. (10) Manuals: Provide 1 copy (digital or print) operation and parts manual or online reference source for each component of the brine production unit.
