Specifications include, but are not limited to: As a means of reducing traffic congestion around the school, improving traffic and pedestriansafety, and promoting healthy alternatives, the EPISD with the SRTS program will begin anaggressive awareness plan to encourage parent and student participation in physically activetransportation (i.e., walking and bicycling). The development of the 47 campus-based SRTSplanned program is in line with the EPISD's Coordinated School Health (CSH) Program. TheCSH program is a systematic approach of advancing student academic performance bypromoting, practicing, and coordinating school health education and services for the benefit andwell-being of students. This approach aids students in establishing healthy behaviors designed tolast their lifetime. The intent of the EPISD is to have safer school routes that will allow forincreased student participation in healthier alternatives to arriving and departing from school.EPISD is committed to improving physical activity and health within the community throughcycling and walking to school. Furthermore, the safety of our students and our communitymembers is essential.
