Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Increase access to food by improving food distribution infrastructure within Harris County through physical or systems-improving investments. A wide range of improvements may be considered infrastructure-related, including investments in vehicles, mobile units, buildings (such as grocery stores or food pantries), food storage and transportation infrastructure, technology systems, etc. Organizations should demonstrate how the investment in infrastructure will increase access to food and nutrition for the target population(s).; 2. Provide services related to food and nutrition in neighborhoods or to individuals that have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic or are in known food deserts within Harris County; these services should improve food access in food deserts, among low-income or financially vulnerable communities. Especially seeking food-banks or food-related nonprofits, organizations requesting funding should demonstrate how the funds would improve the organization’s mission delivery and support transformational, but sustainable growth or improvement. Funds should be used to make a meaningful difference in enabling high-quality, impactful programs and services.; 3. Act as an umbrella organization to provide small capacity-building grants to hyperlocal food providers within Harris County. The organization should demonstrate access to and existing relationships with hyperlocal partner networks and a plan to deliver capacity-building grants. Capacity-building may include providing resourcing and training, improving facilities and infrastructure, equipment, distribution networks, systems, or technology to deliver longterm sustainable solutions.
